Interesting perspective, yet without a true standard the world would be complete chaos (just look around....it already is).

Jesus did not come to condemn the world of sin. They were already condemned, already a mess and already unworthy of being saved. Jesus came to teach and to forgive. It is true that guilt will not help people to change, but when guilt is followed by gratitude, the awareness of the sin plus the forgiveness that follows will give people a chance to change.

You might know some 'moral' people who are violently condemning, but I woudl argue that they are not really Christians. In John Chapter 8, a woman was caught in adultery. Jesus told the Pharisees that if any of them was without sin, they could throw the first stone to condemn her. When none of them did, he asked the woman if anyone was left to condemn her. "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

The problem is that people take their cues of Christianity from public Christian figures rather than from the bible, where we have our only true glimpse into Christ. Popes, bishops, and televangelists become our view of Christ and this is where we get our view of God and we get skewed into equating them with God.

You are not alone.

Love,
Ben
