Hey Dude -
It's been a long time. I know that you don't really want to hear about religion, but since this is a Christian BL board, I guess I get to talk about it anyway.

I wouldn't call my self fanatical, but I have come to believe that there is a power greater than I, and one that did come to earth in the form of the Son to save men. That's just the Jew in me, accepting his Messiah.

The passage in John 8, "Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free". Is read very differently if leave out the The. Einstein may have known some truths, or perhaps they were all illusions. I'm sure you've seen The Matrix. Maybe it's all just a neat setup to make us humans think that we are really living in a world that is all made up. But Jesus wasn't talking about all truths, he was talking about The Truth, as it related to the Jews that he was talking to. Reading on in verse 33 (this is NASB but the meaning is identical in the KJV or the NIV) it says:

They answered Him, "(50) We are Abraham's descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, 'You will become free'?" 34 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, (51) everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. 35 "(52) The slave does not remain in the house forever; (53) the son does remain forever. 36 "So if the Son (54) makes you free, you will be free indeed.

The truth that Jesus was referring to was the gospel truth, that all of us were sinners, but are justified freely by Jesus. The message that there is redemption is not a dangerous message by itself, but when it is perverted to mean that we should comdemn those who do not hear the message (or do not accept it) we become judges ourselves. We know in 1 Corinthians 4:3 Paul said, "I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself."

I believe that Splash MEANT (and Splash if I am putting words in your mouth, let me know) that Those who do not know him don't know THE Truth [about him].

You are not alone.

Love,
Ben
