Given that he hasn't, the only rational reaction is to assume he actually meant what he actually said.

You know, I HAVE heard some people defend religion by claiming they have some sort of extra sense that lets them "feel" things that non-religionists can't. Personally, I think that's crock of shit dreamed up by overactive, superstitious imaginations.
