And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance" (Acts 2:1-4). This is similar to what happened to me. -------------------------------------------------- What are the spiritual gifts you are able to use? Reading a little bit further in the same chapter: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:" (Acts 2:17-18). These are similar to my spiritual gifts. More specifically: "For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will" (1 Corinthians 12:8-11). -------------------------------------------------- What do you mean when you say "seeing that my life has been "directed" seemingly by something outside myself"? When I was very young, I was a creative thinker (my teachers and parents told me so, anyway). This led me to do a lot of writing and to develop other artistic talents. As I got older, I started writing A LOT of music and poems. I tried to get into the music industry, but couldn't do it. I got several "teaching" jobs instead. Through my teaching, I learned a lot by researching my topics. And then I found myself in jobs that required me to do some speaking. Earlier in my life, I'd been deathly afraid of standing in front of people, but now I feel very comfortable about it because it's something I've developed through writing, researching, teaching, learning, and knowing what I'm talking about. This has now just recently led into television, and soon I expect my music and lyrics will come into play. I didn't plan it this way. I never really knew what the next step in my life would be, but as I look back I can see where "something outside myself" has guided me to and through each step to be the person I am today with the talents I have today so that I can accomplish the things that I am now able to do (which I would've thought impossible not more than 10 years ago). I don't believe it's anything of myself -- I give the glory to God. |
