Yes, I agree, you've worked very, very hard to avoid facing up to the awful behavior of your god and his commands in the New Testament. It's fascinating to me how hard you work to not talk about things that must be so very uncomfortable. I have been working my ass off to keep this thread focused like a laser beam on the issues we began to discuss. If we can't address them and THEN move on, how can we ever get anywhere? Regarding the genocidal monster bit, how many humans to you think existed on earth when your god killed them all by drowning them to death? I'm sure he must have far exceeded the atrocities of Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot put together. That alone qualifies him as a rather putrid genocidal monster. Then there's the matter of the way he used the Israelites as a genocidal force. He sent their armies against the cities of the areas they invaded and instructed them to murder, pillage and plunder. He even helped them with miracles. That's evil, digusting and depraved. If that kind of shit went on today, we'd throw the politial leaders and generals in prison for the rest of their lives. So how should your god be able to get away with being such an evil bastard? He gets to torture and murder because he's a god? Fuck that - as I said, i keep better company. War aside, there's the matter of how he murders and tortures people who don't show him proper respect or whatever. There are the children he killed with bears. There are the commands he gave for parents to kill their children if they are disrespectful. I could go on and on. You really can't dispute that the Chrisitan god is an evil, genocidal monster - unless you don't believe the Old Testament is actually the words of your god. |
