"plain simple words" are often the toughest to define clearly. For example, "epistemology" has a very precise meaning, easily ascertained. But if I ask you to give me a definition of the word "tie" you might have some difficulties. Is it an item of men's apparel? Is it the final score of a game? Is it the piece of wood used in constructing railroad tracks? Is it even a noun? This isn't just a frivolous question. You seem to pride yourself on your straight forward, common sense, literal approach to things. This is great, but if you are trying to communicate clearly, you can't assume that the definition YOU have in mind is the same one that I have. The most charitable interpretation of the exchange in this thread is that you and Splash (and Puzzled, and Chris, etc) are not in fact talking about the same thing. Several people have actually suggested this to you. So please, tell us in simple words what you are talking about when you say "truth". Dirk |
