I'm betting that the whole Methusela living 1000 years thing is a matter of different time scales. Who's to say they called months years? After all, all accuracte ancient calendars (with the exception of the Greeks) were based on the moon, because it was a far more accurate way of telling time than by touchy-feely things like seasons. There are a few exceptions of course, but the moon was a much more common way for people to tell dates. So if "years" was "months," that would make him 83 years old. Unusual for that time, but no stretch of the imagination. |
