Hey bros, thanks.

Today I was listening to J John speaking and he told a story of a boy in a race watched by his daddy and he knew his daddy wanted him to win so he was running as hard as he could. Unfortunately he slipped and fell, and the other racers went on ahead, while he felt that all was lost. Then he saw his daddy watching and "heard" him say 'get up son and race on to win.'

So he got up and started running again, but once more he fell, and felt that he really had goofed up and it wasn't worth getting up. Yet again he saw his daddy's face and "heard" him say 'get up, win the race.' So he got up and raced on, now many yards behind the last racer.

Yet again he slipped and fell. This time he said to himself, 'that's it, it is not worth trying any more, I am a failure, no good at running and I just keep falling over.' But even as he was was thinking this to himself, he "heard" his daddy say, 'Get up son, run to the end and finish the race, that is what is important.'

And so for a third time he got up and ran. The winner had by this time come in, accompanied by the cheers of the crowd. One by one the other racers arrived. But the loudest cheers were for the boy who came in last, who had fallen three times, yet had got up and carried on.

As J John was speaking, I felt I was like that boy - I had fallen time and again, and was feeling like giving up, but I felt those words were for me. They were all the more poignant cos when I was 14 I was running in a race when my legs gave out under me - and I know I had no daddy to call to me and encourage me to keep going cos I never did have a dad to encourage me ever!

Please pray for me that I will keep going to the end now - and I will pray the same for you.

Bill
