The prostitutes of Jesus' day had no choice. If they weren't married and had no brother or relative to take them in, they either turned to prostitution (along with the "proper" social condemnation) or starved. I don't rellay see how paedophilia would have the same force of necessity. The Greek pagans saw nopthing wrong with it, up to a certain point--depending on geographical location. Some philosophers not only saw nothing wrong with it, but thought it was necessary. This was one point of contention between the Greeks and the Jews. |
