A very good Christian friend of mine surprised me this last week when I asked him, "Why do people even have sex when they know it's going to cause so much grief?" We had just been discussing things such as AIDS (in Uganda and South Africa specifically) and people having babies that they know they have no way of taking care of (e.g. Romania). My friend answered with a stifled sarcastic laugh, "Well, we have sexual needs that just can't be denied." Sometimes I wonder how much of these "needs" God really understands and forgives. He did, afterall, give us these bodies that are built for reproduction and are easily sexually stimulated, and He did, afterall, give us the command to reproduce. But on the otherhand, Jesus (who had to remain pure) seemingly never entertained or acted on any sexual thoughts. Paul tells us that it's better to marry than burn, and yet he adds that it is BEST to stay single. What are we to do? People often ask the question that if there was a pill that would take these feelings away, would we take it. I know I would. However, I'd hope that my desire to "love" would still encompass everyone, including other men, boys, and girls. Personally, for me, I see no need for my having sexual needs. Anyway, Kid, I wanted to let you know that it's refreshing to see your faith in God by saying, "If you ask God to forgive you and are genuine about it, I believe that he will." I pray you never lose faith and that you keep God as #1 in your life. May God bless you, guide you, and protect you.
