We choose to be gay to the same extent that the person with Cerebral palsy chooses to the in a wheelchair or the person born blind chooses to be blind. Or maybe at some point we did choose - but it's not a choice we can reverse - like the driver of the car who drove it off the road because he was driving too fast and ends up in a wheel chair. In either case the response from the church should be constructive compassion - not cheap judgementalism. We seek to live by the command 'Go and sin no more'. Our sin is a bit less acceptable than most of those struggled with in the average church, but 'the ground is level at the foot of the cross'. |
