As salaam' alaykum! The Muslim concept of Hell, or "Gehenna" as it's called in the Qur'an, is very similar to the Roman Catholic concept of Purgatory. Its more a place of purification, cleansing and rehabilitation of the soul than a place of eternal damnation. The only one who never gets into Paradise are Iblis, (Satan), and atheists who deny God's existence. Even those who maybe question or ain't sure of God are eventually one with him. If you have the tiniest shred of belief or faith the door is open. But the thang is that unless you submit to God's will, (Muslim=one who submits), and try to straighten up your act and lead a good life, be prepared to serve a LONG stretch of time in God's "SuperMax" before you can even HOPE to be one with God. It may not BE for eternity, but it'll sure seeem like it. Eventually, (in the Islamic concept anyway), everyone will be one with Allah, for he is all compassionate and all merciful.
