I must admit that instinctively I go along with Dakota on this as I cannot say that anything that is potentially sinful is "perfect". Hoever, if we are to be "perfect as he is perfect" and still have a BL orientation, being BL cannot be a barrier to being part of his perfect plan. I have so longed over the many years I have been both Christian and BL to be rid of the BL but to no avail (I wonder if anyone has really changed?) So part of his perfect plan maybe to demonstrate that his grace is sufficient, and his power is able to keep us from falling .... The same arguments can be used in the area of physical and other sickness. Maybe we need to get away from the word "perfect" when used in conjunction with God and plans. As to the word "dysfunctional". Well, I guess everyone is dysfuntional in some part of their makeup, but it seems to be used in a derogatory sense when applied to BLs. So let's not use that one either. As far as support groups are concerned. This can never be a waste of time as it is always good for Christians to have fellowship. My group never started as a support group and it isn't now - it is just three guys who understood that God was calling us to meet together and chat and pray. Their support for me as a BL came nearly a year later, and it certainly doesn't take up much of our time. So please don't knock the concept. Bill |
