but I dont think its a very probable one. The reason I say this is because there are witnesses who testified the boys admitted to the crime before the fact. These witnesses include other kids from school that say they heard the King boys state they would be on the news soon, and that they were going to kill their father (keep in mind that according to the King Brother's second story, they didnt know Chavis was going to murder their father until after the fact, and therefore when they said this publicly in the school bus, it couldnt have been part of Chavis' plans to get them to spread the word). There are witnesses from after the fact, including witnesses from the jail they are in, who say they also bragged about the killing. Then there is the police confession, so graphic that the officer who interviewed them described it as an account only an eyewitness could give. Then there is a witness (Chavis' brother if Im not mistaken) who was with Chavis the night of the murder and witnessed when the phone rang, and a typically calm Chavis, after saying things like 'what?! what happened?!" went hysterical and ran out of the house in a hurry, returning a while later with the boys. Then there is the logical factor. While Chavis could probably convince Alex to take the fall, due to this kids' seemingly obsessive love for the guy, I dont believe Derek could be convinced to do such a thing, there is no reason for Derek to take the fall, Derek wasnt in love with the guy. Neither would there be a reason for Chavis to ask both boys to confess to doing the crime together when, for the purposes of taking the fall, only one was necessary (and if he could convince Derek to take the fall, he could stay with Alex). If you watch Alex's testimony during the Chavis trial, you can also see from the way he talks, and the pauses between each sentence, and the information that he chooses to volunteer when answering a question, that the kid is struggling to keep his story straight on the stand. I think the case against the King brothers was very solid and there is little doubt in my mind they did it, certainly not any reasonable doubt. The Chavis trial, as you mentioned, was very weak. They didnt really have evidence of anything and it wouldve been a travesty of justice if Chavis had been convicted. I agree with you that it was unethical of the prosecutor to try a person he does not believe is guilty. As far as brainwashing is concerned, its a logical hypothesis but that doesnt mean its true, and I saw no evidence of it. Did you hear any evidence to back that hypothesis up?
