I wouldn't drop him as a friend, but I would let him know that your trust in him has been severely damaged and it will take a long time of him showing you he can be trustworthy in the future before you can ever fully trust him again. I have to say something that will probably hurt. You have to consider the possibility that Ginger doesn't love you and is just using your love for him for his own purposes. Remember that he didn't get pangs of conscience and confess after seeing how wrong he was. He confessed because he got caught. I think he's more sorry that he got caught than of what he did. While it's true that kids go thru stages, kid's feel love like anyone else and don't generally blackmail and con people they love for money. I'm not saying you shouldn't remain his friend. I just think you should let Ginger take the lead in how close a friendship HE wants it to be and don't let him take advantage of you. Let him know you will always be there for him (as a friend, not as a bank account) and hopefully someday he will realize how good a friend you have been over the years. Dakota |
