On what both you and he are looking for by meeting. If you know that he is gay or may be interested in more than friendship, I wouldnt do it. Its too much of a risk. But if hes just a normal kid who maybe needs more friends, I cant speak against it because I did it myself and it worked out quite well. I ended up meeting his parents and his friends, getting to know them, and becoming loved at his house. If it werent for the fact that he is my younger brother's age and I failed to take into account that they would one day be old enough to drive and end up hanging out at the same places, it would not have backfired. But alas it did backfire when he met my younger brother and my two worlds collided (no one from my circle of family or friends was supposed to know that I was friends with this young man). Had that not happened though, I wouldve had no regrets.

Of course, I must clarify something. In my area, nearly everyone is online, so it is normal for your friends from real life to be on your icq contact list. It was through such an acquaintance (someone I knew in person first) that I came to have this young man's contact information. It was not just any random stranger from the internet. It was someone whose contact info I had been given to me for other purposes (my acquaintance wanted me to put a virus in this kids' computer and instead I chose to talk to the would-be victim and become friends..eventually meeting in a matter of about 2 weeks).
