Basically, christians accept Jesus as the messiah prophecized about in the Old Testament. Jews do not accept Jesus as the messiah and still await the coming of the messiah. Both believe in the same God (YHWH, also reffered to as the God of Abraham), but Jews still await the messiah that was promised to them in the Old Testament, and christians believe Jesus is the messiah. I was told by a liberal Jew that they are not waiting for the messiah, Orthodox Jews are. But I didnt follow up his statements with any research so Im not certain what the differences between Orthodox Jews and liberal Jews are. |
