IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE FILM AND INTEND TO WATCH IT, DO NOT READ ON!! HAVING THIS KNOWLEDGE BEFORE WATCHING THE MOVIE WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY RUIN THE ENDING. My biggest gripe about the film (other than being decieved by the marketing people), is its lack of realism. Why would an alien race, which is obviously far superior in terms of technology than we are, choose to attack a planet whose most abundant resource is deadly to them? When they sent out the scouts to prepare for a possible attack, didnt any of them step on a puddle of water? wasnt there a sprinkler system in any of the fields? didnt it rain somewhere on the planet while the aliens were scouting the area? werent any of the fields at least moist? They must have come into contact with water at some point. Wouldnt they have studied the planet? wouldnt they have wondered what that blue stuff that makes up 2/3 of the surface of the planet was? Wouldnt they have checked weather patterns and realized that water falls from the sky on this planet? Wouldnt they have come prepared? I agree with you, the alien invasion theme was stupid and unrealistic. However, it worked. It got the point across, and I cant say it ruined the movie. |
