Fun Friday Night

I took a group of kids, including my neph and a yf to our local high school football game last night. As typical kids, all they wanted to do was go walking around and hanging with their friends. I didn't really mind, because I enjoy football. Anyways I had an average of one kid that would be with me at any given time, filling up on dr pepper or candy while getting ready for another trip around the stand with their friends (or kissing up to me hoping they could get a few bucks to buy some more goodies). I haven't really been to many high school games since I was a kid their age. When I was in high school, I was part of the game, so I never knew what was going on the in stands. I just realized how many cute kids there are at high school games. None of them stay seated. They are constantly coming up and going down the stairs. I was exchanging smiles like crazy all night. My 8yo niece had found a group of her school buddies and they hung around and giggled like 8yo girls do. I teased them about school and boys. My highlight of the night (well actually just the game) was when my 6 yo neph came back, tired, from a round with his school buddies and he came up behind me and put his arms around my neck and just leaned against my back for a good 5 mins. Also near the end of the game, he came and stood in front of me and pulled my arms around his shoulders. And we watched the last series while he laid back against me. On top of that, it was a good game (although our secondary ran zone all night and let them get away with short midfield passes all night) and came down to winning by a point when their team missed the extra point. I feel sorry for that kicker, hehe. After that, I took everyone home and went back to my neph's house to watch him till his parents got back. We played Playstation2 the rest of the night. His parents came home said hi, told me I could spend the night, then went strait to their room and locked the door (they have three kids and hardly get "alone time", if you know what I mean). Me and him laid on his bed and watched Superman 5 till we fell asleep, and I woke up looking at an angel this morning. God Bless |
