We sold the house

Hi! Sorry I've been gone for a while. It's been a busy week. We sold JR's mom's house this week. I took the offer that had been given last week and we closed today.

Last weekend JR and I went and looked at four houses. We found one that JR joved. It is set beack in a five acre lot and has a huge back yard, comparied to what we have now. There are woods all around us, execpt for the front and back yard. The back propety line goes fifty feet into the woods behind the house and JR was saying that he build a treehouse out there. It's the same amount to the church and school, but a little farther to the mall. It's a two story "Cape Cod" design, with a wonderful view of a wooded vally from the second floor porch. It has five bedrooms and three baths. The master bedroom has a private bath off of it. JR's room (at least the one he wants) is right across the hall. I'm thinking of making one of the bedrooms, the downstairs onr, into a study/den and one of the upstairs ones into a game room.

The front of the property has a row of high shurbs, about ten feet tall at a guess, that will allow a lot of privacy. There's a wood burning stove in the living room that, according to the agent, will heat the entire house, execpt for the basement. The only problem is I've never used one before, so it'll be interesting if we get the house. (If anyone has any helpful hints for this, I'd really apprecaite it if you'd tell me. I don't even know what kind of wood to use!)

I put in an offer that was $2,000 less than the asking price, with the conditions that I sell my house and the new house passes a Home Inspector's examination. My realestate agent called Wednwsday to say that the offer was accepted, unless a better one comes along.

I'm using the money from JR's mom's house (he still doesn't want me calling it that,) to pay a little over half of the price for the new house. I'm kind of excited and scared at the same time. It's a lot bigger than I am used to, but it is in wonderful shape.

Yesterday, after JR got home from school, he wanted to take a walk through the house one last time. We went over together. He slowly walked through the house, just looking around and didn't say anything. When we left I asked him if he was sorry that we were selling the house. He said, "No. I just wanted to look at it one last time." He came to the closing today because he wanted to meet the couple that were buying the house. He told them about his mom and what had happened and asked them to take good care of the house.

Once we closed on the sale, I took the check and used it for a downpayment on the new house and to hire a Home Inspector. Jr is so happy about it he's been telling everyone that we actually have the house. I've tried to get it through to him that we have to sell my (our) house first. His replied was simple: "Don't worry, Dad. God will sell this house for us." How can you argue with that? So, anyone want to buy a house?
