Elekid's brother offers new hope

Submitted by Halo on 2002-10-26 05:27:34, Saturday

Thursday: Elekid's brother is due to arrive on camp today. I chatted briefly to the barman, as he was due to leave on Saturday, then left & saw Elekid coming towards me. El asked me to wait outside as he went to speak to the barman.

What was said between them is not known, but later it became apparent that things were not as they seemed to be.

During a football match, I saw how El interacted with other kids, mostly younger, aged around 10 or less. He likes being around them, he gets them involved in the game, encouraging them & passing the ball to them to score most of the goals. However when he's in a larger scale game with older kids 11+ he's more dominant, wanting to score himself, all the time & critisises others. I was in this game as well & did my bit chatting away to others from time to time.

When El's brother (who I will now name Pichu who to recap is nearly 17yo) arrived, he was delighted to see me (no sign of the anger & hatred Ele mentioned). (Again to recap, Pichu is smaller than his brother, dark haired & looks around 11). During the day I noticed how the two of them interacted. Ele is very loving towards Pichu, theres lots of body contact, mainly arm around the shoulder type, he also worries about him a lot. Didn't want him to be late for work or get sacked on his first day. Also on the slot machines, they share the winnings with each other. Indeed a strong bond.

Ele noticed that Pichu had his uniform on when he was playing the machines & said he needed to put a different top on. Pichu took off his top to reveal a hairless body, not even underarm hair!!! Rare for a 17yo. Then they continued to play the machines. Time came for both of them to start work & we parted company.

During the evening the barman came up with the his thoughts of me & Ele's friendship. "I saw you outside the snooker hall today, you were stalking him again!" - "No, he told me to wait there whilst he went & talked to you." I replied. A cold shiver went through him & he seemed to act as if he'd been had by Elekid & realised I was telling the truth, he then said "What! Thats it, I'm not saying another word, I'm keeping well out of this now." So no danger of "Confessions of a barman" coming out then, not tonight or ever, as he leaves Saturday!

Pichu returned to the venue later on & I asked how his day went, he was again happy to see me, he said it went okay & he got on well with everyone. I asked if Ele was meeting me tomorrow, he returned with Ele who said we could meet up around 12:15. Then they left for the night.

Friday: A NEW HOPE

When I met Elekid, I was surprised to see him hurriedly looking around for his brother. Apparently he was coming in today, even though it was his day off. We found him in the arcades, with another 16yo boy from his home, who also starts today elsewhere.

Moving through the day, I found that Ele is quite happy for me to be with Pichu alone, no over-protecting as I thought there would be, they argue as well as normal brothers. Pichu seems to have the same struggles as me about Elekid sometimes & understands the money begging thing. "You said you'd pay me back today" said Pichu - "I'll give you it tomorrow" said Ele - "I knew this would happen, you've spent it haven't you. You always do this to me" said Pichu.

After a brief discussion between the two of them, I agreed to lend the money to Pichu that his brother owed him. Ele responded saying to Pichu "Now you've got to give him a cuddle", both boys then did so, briefly.

Going through the day, I found that Pichu allows me to put an arm around him on many occasions (this was during a discussion about me lending both of them a small amount of money I should add), as we walk together in public, there's no condemnation from his brother either, who even gives him a firm cuddle with people around as well, declaring "I love you little brother".

We played football with some younger boys again, we split into two teams, Ele on my side & Pichu on another, Ele's team won. During the game, Pichu would tear strips of one of the little ones for getting in the way saying "Get out the way you f-ing little ship", I was not impressed with that language towards a small 7yo who seemed unmoved by it. After the game I said "You shouldnt've had a go at him, he was on Ele's team." I also added "You should encourage the little ones, not shout at them." Pichu did shake the hands of the other boys & I offered the 7yo a smile of thanks (should've spoken to him to tell him not to worry about Pichu too much). Ele also went around shaking hands & offering compliments & hugged one of the little ones as well.

Back in the arcades, they put some money in the machines, Pichu asked if I wanted to join them "Go on you know you like me". I said no, but he asked if he could put it in instead, so I gave him $2. Elekid was not impressed "Where's mine then?" he asked...eihhh...I explained to him the conversation, but he was still unhappy at being left out. A mistake I shall try hard to avoid again (that either giving one money without the other when they are together or falling for that trick in the first place).

When Elekid went to work, I spent a good half-hour with Pichu alone, this was after Ele had spent Pichu's money that he was saving for later. We walked around & Pichu mentioned that he was saving that money to see XXX in the cinema & was going to be grounded for having spent it on the machines instead. I pondered on my thoughts & offered to loan him the money. He then accompanied me to eat, I offered to buy him food, but he turned me down.

In the canteen, I introduced Pichu to many who know his brother & also to allow him to feel more comfortable. Pichu told me that their real dad left them when they were very young, not to be seen again. He also said that his parents were worried about me, cause Ele's been in with the wrong crowd before. Pichu assured them by saying "it's okay, I've met him & he's cool". So they are happy with me & none of Ele's rants have got back to them.

Pichu is more down-to-earth than his brother & to quote his trust in one sentence I would say that he'd "Read my heart".

Later during my break I met up with Pichu again, he said he was hungry, but I didn't have any money on me (deliberately). He said he went to see the film XXX, bought popcorn & coke (so he says), but was still hungry. I spoke to him more, whilst he did normal boy things, whilst waiting for his brother to finish work, like climbing up poles & trying to flip himself over. I kept myself back from offering a helping hand, but wanted to hug him so much, but didn't.

The best moment was when Elekid emerged from work & Pichu went up to him & said "I made a new friend today, his name is Halo", a BM in itself even if it was jokingly said.

He later came to my till with Ele & kept a receipt with my name on it. They're meeting me tomorrow or rather El is cause Pichu is working.

Will update again when I can.

Halo ("He's read my heart")
