God does have a way of opening our eyes. What I find interesting is how, most of the time, it takes awhile to get a full response from God, but every now and then, when you least expect it, He jumps right out at you. Now this story is WAAAY less, stunning that yours, but it still effected me. I have recently been struggling with anger, especially with driving. My cussing get's out of hand and I curse other drivers who go slow, or drive badly. Anyways, one night I was praying that God help me in this matter. I know it is not a very christian attitude and I know it doesn't please God. I felt really remorseful that I would repent for doing it, then the next day, do it again. So one morning, after a long conversation with God about it, a slow driver cut me off. My immediate reply was "you dumb s#!t!" And without missing a beat, God replied jokingly and called me a "dumb s#!t". It all made sense in my mind right away. Here I was cursing that another slow car got in front of me, but I should know that the person inside is probably a great person. Still I curse them, the morning after I begged Gods forgiveness for my continual straying away from a Godly attitude. By Him calling me a "dumb s#!t" he illustrated what kind of God He would be if He were to act like I did. It all fit, in my mind. I laughed for 10 mins, at God's humorous lesson. |
