Unlike the majority here who view homosexual relationships (whether it’s between two adults or an adult and a child) as sinful, I have no problem with it within the confines of a committed and loving relationship.

Having said that, however, I believe you are walking a very dangerous line in that you do not appear to have made a firm decision to remain celibate for the best interests of everyone involved (both yourself and the boy), your use of the ‘if’ clause in reference to having sex with the right boy if you ever found him demonstrates this. Take my word for it, you don’t want to go down that path – I did and I screwed up my own life and the life of a boy I love. We entered into sexual relations with mutual consent, relations that were discovered through a complete fluke chain of events, I was arrested and went to prison and God knows what my young friend went through.

Sure, I could blame society for all of it, but I am the one who made the choice to thumb my nose at them and risk bringing pain to my young friend if we were ever discovered – that’s my fault. My young friend needed a friend, a mentor, someone to come to for help (his home life was horrible), he didn’t need a lover – I failed him and I failed God, in short I committed a very grievous sin. But God is compassionate and graciously forgiving to those who are not deserving, myself at the top of the list.

A group of Christians used to come to the prison once a month and sing for anybody who would listen to them, one song always brought me to tears – it was based on Psalm 103:

Praise the LORD, O my soul,
..and forget not all his benefits –
who forgives all your sins…
The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
..slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse,
..nor will he harbor his anger forever;
he does not treat us as our sins deserve
..or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
..so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
..so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children,
..so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
for he knows how we are formed,
..he remembers that we are dust.
Psalm 119:2-3, 8-14

For your own sake and for the sake of any boy you may come to love, don’t make the same mistake I did – draw a line firmly in your mind to remain celibate and let God help you from crossing that line, not because to engage in sex with a boy is a sin, but because it will bring untold pain and suffering on the both of you if you do because of the society you live in. As the older and more responsible party, it is your responsibility if harm comes, because you are fully aware of the consequences, you can’t blame that on society. Those members of society who viciously oppress loving pedophiles will answer to God one day for their actions, but you will have to answer to God for any decision you make to put a boy at risk for being harmed by that society.

In Christ,
J

Come away, O human child,
to the waters of the wild,
with a fairy hand in hand,
for the world’s more full of weeping
than you can understand.
