I respect your position and admire that you are willing to follow God regardless of your feelings of what is right and wrong. My belief is that God doesn't identify things as sin just to give us arbitrary rules to follow. The Old Testament has tons of rules. Everything from what kind of meat to eat to how to deal with pimples that have a hair growing out of them (depending on whether it's a white hair or a black hair). I'm sure the people at the time must have thought "Gee whiz, there are a lot of arbitrary rules to follow." But we know today that many of those arbitrary rules actually had very sound reasoning. I think the same is true today. We may not understand all the "rules" but there are logical reasons for them nonetheless. Perhaps there are man/boy sexual relationships that aren't harmful. Maybe even there are some that are beneficial. I persona;lly don't believe the sexual component would make them beneficial, but for the sake of this discussion, I'll concede the possibility. Perhaps God has labeled it a sin because He knows the harm it COULD do. Are we really wise enough to be able to discern when it would and wouldn't be harmful? Even if the man isn't a Christian and doesn't believe in sin, is it worth the risk to the boy? After all, it's not something that can be undone. It's not like after the fact the man can make like it never happened if the boy shows signs of being emotionally harmed. You say you've seen man/boy sexual relationships that have been beneficial. I've seen man/boy sexual relationships that have cause great harm. So does that make the man you speak of less wrong than the men I speak of simply because he guessed right? Guessed right that the boy wouldn't be harmed? And how can anyone know for sure if the boy will or won't suffer ill effect of the relationship years later? The main problem I have with man/boy sex is that the man is taking a huge risk with an innocent boy's life, not just his own. Dakota Dakota |
