Just because we should help doesn't mean that we should pay a buddies defense if he has continually done something that we do not approve of. There are other ways to help. Talk with him about how he can change, get him help, if there is some psychological factor in his continual infractions, ect.

Remember, we must repent first, before Jesus washes away our sins.
