In reply to I do believe we have a responsibility.. submitted by PlatonicDieci on 2002-12-16 02:28:28, Monday

If you met a boy who was very affectionate, loving, and even sexual with an adult male friend- but who's spiritual relationship with God was strong and vibrant... if you found such a boy whose love for the Lord shown through his eyes and the Lord's blessing was clear in his life-- would you believe that such fruit could honestly be of Satan or sin? If so, how do you respond to Matt. 7:16-7?

I dont think such a thing is possible. It makes no sense for me to seriously consider something I dont think is possible as if it were. Whatever conclusion I reach would be based on fantasy.

The real point, as you mention, is that you're not teaching them respect for the law, or established authority. It could be argued that instead you're allowing them to question and think for themselves. You're teaching them that the only person who's ever perfect is the Lord Himself, and showing them as their role model that they have the ability to live a life of freedom under grace and love. Last I checked Jesus was extremely defiant to authority for His time as well, bringing a message that no one following the Law or authority would consider- even to the point of nailing Him to the cross to temporarily silence the Truth.

You are forgetting something. Jesus had authority directly from God. What you are talking about here is not biblical. "To live a life of freedom...etc" is a hippie dream, one born from euphoric excesses and drug induced fantasies, not a biblical ideal. The bible instead teaches:

Romans 13:1-2 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

What you propose for a yf is to live the life of a criminal. Breaking the law, and knowing that he has to keep that secret and lie about it if necessary.

I've yet to see one YF who's been sexual end up homoerotic in their adult years. If nothing else I've seen the opposite-- the YF gains assurance and self-esteem through their relationship and it gives his heterosexual identity and relationships a good deal of stability.

I just gave you a link to an article written by one. How can you say you still have never heard of such a thing happening? Go read the article again and you will have heard of such a thing happening. You may not have observed it before, but thats a different topic. Don't just ignore the article because you werent there to see what happened. Had that article had something positive to say about the sexual relationship youd probably be waving it around like its the holy grail. Since it disagrees with what you believe, your defense is a mysterious "It isn't true because Ive never personally met such a person". Guess what? thats the same basis on which everyone else in this thread who has answered you has discarded your beleifs. You say something you know is true because youve seen it first hand, but most people havent seen such a thing first hand so they automatically attack that view, thinking perhaps you werent a careful enough observer and didnt notice the harm, or other such silliness. Now your falling into the same trap as them. The fact you have not observed something does not mean it does not exist, it simply means you are not omniscient.

messed up with the bold in the previous one, this one is more legible.
