Marriage and Questioning God

I had to write this out before sitting down to do it here in the forum. I hope it is helpful.

Some Pharisees tried to trap Jesus by asking Him about His views on the subject of divorce. His reply to them was, "...God's plan was seen from the beginning of creation, for 'He made them male and female'. This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united as one. Since they are no longer two but one, let no man seperate them, for God has joined them together." (Mark 10:6-9, New Living Translation)

I believe in God's Word because it IS God's Word. God gave man His laws to prove to man how badly he needs to be redeemed from sin by loving grace and saved from it's bondage through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. Every time we run into something in the Bible we do not like, we try to say,"Well it MUST be wrong because.....", then we try to justify our position with our own limmited, human reasoning. It's like a man trying to drive a car with manual transmission for the very first time. The car goes "chug-chug-chug" down the road, jerking and lurching like mad. So the man stops the car, gets out and says,"There is something wrong with this car, I can't make it work right." He blames the car instead of himself but he knows full well that the truth of the matter is that he just dosen't posess the skills needed to drive a stick shift.

There isn't a person born who has never questioned at least something in God's Word. I personally have questioned a lot of it. There's nothing wrong with that because it is one way in which we learn. And we are ALL here to learn. But what I have found to be one of the greatest leasons of all (and I am continually learning it in deeper ways), is that I realise just how spiritually bankrupt I trully am. This ussually happens whenever I try to rely on my own understanding and reasoning rather than trust God.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT)

Love in Christ Jesus,
Chris
