| the history of the word is from 'sectarian' - i.e. not main stream - holding unusual beliefs. Given the history of extremely nasty religious groups over recent years (the Solar Temple and Jonestown mass suicides for instance), there is some reason for scepticism expressed about such groups. However it is not so unacceptable as to be unreasonable to use in this circumstance. |
