Hi Again...

As I sit here about to write some more wisdom from John Of The Cross, I am listening to a way differant author....Dr. Suss. A boy of about thirteen is reading one of the "Cat In The Hat" books to his younger brother, who is about five or so. It is so beautiful to listen to because the older boy is being so very nice and loving to his brother. He is reading so wonderfully and making the story actually come to life by the way he is interpreting it. They are here at the library with thier mom and by the way they are dressed they are probably Amish. I think much can be said about living a less complicated life and centering life around family the way these folks do. What a treat to see an boy of his age treat his younger brother with such love!!!

Anyway, here is yet another quote from John Of The Cross.... (I think the two Amish boys have illustrated what John is saying here quite nicely for me today. What a treat! See what you think.)

"The love of God is never idle, though our weak flesh often believes He has forgotten us. We think the proof of His abandonment is that He allows unlovely things to happen to us. This is not so. But we misunderstand the way His love works.

God's purpose is to enkindle us in love that we are full of life, and full of delight. But first, in order to penetrate our souls, it is necessary for love to wound.

For God's love is both deeper and higher than the poor sick thing we call love-which is not love at all, but walls of defense we raise about our inner man. And so we try to protect that which is in the throes of death, when Love wants to "wound" us and open us up to Life."

Taken from "Living Flame Of Love", Stanza 1,
John Of The Cross

I think God has illustrated what John is saying to me today in a real-life situation that I have just described; the Amish boys. Very Cool!!!
God Bless!!!
Love in Christ Jesus,
Chris
