Hi Drifter, What a day to forget my Bible. Ive tried to find this passage in the ones that they have here at the library, but without a proper concordance (they do not have one on hand....I can't believe it....), this is one of those passages I cannot find without doing some major searching. But somewhere it does say "within the heart of man lies the image of God". What that means is that God has placed His "image" within the heart of every human being created by Him. And so, because every human being has been, is, or will be, created by Him, every heart has within it the image of God. That means that the people who live in the most remote areas of the earth, who may never hear about God as we understand Him, already have an understanding of Him in thier hearts. Thier interpritation of that image is subject to many differant influences in thier lives, however, they can still be held accountable to God, by God, because the origional "image" that He placed within them is true. When I say "image", by the way, I am not speaking of some kind of a picture in thier heads. I mean the real image of God, which is spiritual and more than a mere picture of the mind's ability to conjure up. All have been given an ability to have this kind of fundamental spiritual knowledge in that which we call the heart, and so God has indeed placed it in there. It is not those who have never heard of Jesus Christ who will be held most accountable, however. We who have heard of Him, and His Gospel, will have that honor. It is our responsability to follow Him and try every day to put Him first in order to bring His gospel to the world around us. We do not have to be missionaries traveling to the farthest reaches of the earth....well, some do, but not all of us. But we must be willing to do everything we can right where we are, wherever that may be at any given time. He know's that we are imperfect, and He knows all about our circumstances too, so He also knows how to judge us with utmost care. Don't ever forget that He loves us all more than we can comprehend. God is always fair, completely loveing, and flawlessly wise with all of His creation. He knows what He is doing in the lives of those we believe to be, or have been, out of reach. They are not.
