The Cost of Living....

Submitted by Chris on 2003-01-18 16:19:00, Saturday

Hi Everyone,

Well, I just went to the pharmacy today to get a prescription refilled because I ran out last night. I ran out because I have had to take two or three of these things at a time, because they don't work. They don't work because the Insurence company would not let the pharmacy fill the origional perscription, but made them use a whole different kind of medication....the one origionally perscribed "costs too much". Well, I walked out of the pharmacy without my medicine because I had used it up too quickly, and it is too soon to do a refill on it.

All I can say is thank God it wasn't my blood pressure meds that ran out, it was the stuff I need to take for acid reflux. But I am still going to be in considerable pain until monday or tuesday, whenever they can get the orrigional perscription "ok'ed" by the doctor.

It should not come as too much of a supprise, I guess. We live in a world that values money over all. We live in a backwards, fallen world that hates us because we dare to place our values in life instead of the junk we find here in this world. We live in a world that values junk. We live in a world that places the value of a person squarely upon the thickness of his wallet, what he earns, who he knows (or the names he can comfortably drop), and how much prestige he has accumulated over however much time he has spent spinning around the sun on a world filled with many more of his kind. In other words, indeed yes we are strangers in a strange land.

God help us!!!

So.....what truely IS the "cost of living"? The real cost of living is that which we must pay in order to have life. Not the counterfit garbage that the world calls life, but REAL life. The cost is self, and all that goes along with it. Jesus gave us the way to get real life, eternal life; but first we must give up that which the world values most of all...selfish, sel-centered "living". That is the cost. But the thing we get in return, though it may not always be tangeble to us every single moment of every single day....that which we get in return is, beyond all measure, priceless.

In other words, although the next few days may bring some pretty nasty pain, I'll take that over anything this world offers, no matter how nice it might be.

Love In Jesus Christ,
Chris
