We are a mixed bag so there will be differing opinions, but ultimately the practice of both same and adult-child sex is hardly promoted in scripture and basically is condemned. And if we are to live by any external standard, the scriptures are that standard.

I would guess that for a fair number, our hearts, emotions and desires want it to be OK; but ultimately the spirit in tune with the Holy Spirit has to say it is not. What I dont believe is that it is a sin in a higher category than other sins. I believe that people (including children) can be damaged as much by lack of love and care than by having sex with an adult whom they love and who loves them (of course it will be argued that an adult will not be sexual with a boy if he really loves the boy - but sometimes these things happen in the heat of the moment).

I wonder sometimes whether more damage is done by wrenching a family apart where sex has taken place in a "loving" context than by finding a way to disuade the adult and child concerned to cease their activity. Of course, where there has been coercion, physical damage, and force, then the guy concerned needs to be removed for the safety of the child.

Preferably sex should be avoided, and I now agree with other posters that with the help of the Holy Spirit, it can be once it is recognised as being contrary to God's plan and prpose for human beings. Hopefully we know our own weaknesses and can avoid situations where we may be tempted more than we ought.

Bill
