Hi Ron,

You are right, that is very sad. In fact, it is one of the saddest stories I have read in a long time. It really hurts to hear about such things. But I have this to say, if you will listen.

"But for the grace of God, there go I"

That is a quote from the Bible that I have kept inside my own heart for a long, long time. I do not remember where it is, exactly, but I believe it was the Apostle Paul who said it. At any rate, it is one which has a lot of meaning for me. Do you know what he was talking about? I'll tell you...

What he meant by that is that ALL of us, literally ALL human beings on Earth, who live now, were ever born, or who will ever be born, are completely capable of doing ANY sinful act under the sun. Without God's grace, none of us is exempt from sin of ANY kind. We love to say that one sin is worse than another, and while some sins have worse consequences in the lives of others, the truth of the matter is that God views ALL sin as terrible, and He hates it all equally...regardless of it's nature.

The truth is that the nature of sin...ALL sin...is death! So what does this mean to us if we are both capable of doing literally ANY kind of sin, AND we are also seen as being guilty of ALL kinds of sin even if we only sin once? It means just what Paul said, "...there go I."!

You see, unlike folks who regularly come in here and try to raise all kinds of hell with us, Paul had developed the kind of humility which allowed him to become more like Jesus Christ. The kind of humility it takes to quit looking at the sins of others (both real and/or imagined), and focus only on his own. THAT is something we are trying to accomplish in here by having a place where we can have Christian fellowship with one another. Like ALL children of God, we too are learning. THAT is where God's Grace comes in....it gives us the "room" we need to be able to learn.

His grace is a free gift, Ron. I hope and pray you will accept Jesus Christ into your heart and life today. I am praying for you.

Love in Christ Jesus,
Chris
