While I do not necessarily agree with what NAMBLA promotes, I am willing to defend them as a legitimate lobbying organization. By claiming that an organization that promotes the legalization of something that is currently illegal is in fact a criminal organization, you are setting a dangerous precedent. You are saying that NORML (the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) is a criminal organization. You are saying that most gay rights organizations are criminal organizations (since they actively lobby against sodomy laws that still exist in many states and advocate acts of sodomy still illegal in those states). You would be making it impossible for anyone to actively lobby for a change in the legal system, because by promoting something that is currently illegal, they would be a criminal organization. Dont forget about the first amendment, you have the right to speak your mind even if you disagree with the government and its laws (and in this case with most of society). NAMBLA exists to promote a change in the legal system that would allow consensual relations between adults and minors. They do not promote or tolerate rape and have always spoken out against the use of force, coersion, and violence. They even have a strong stance against corporal punishment and have lobbied against it. They have never published anything with the title "Rape and Escape", this title was made up by the attourney of the plaintiff who is suing NAMBLA.
