I made a new friend yesterday....

...his name is Squirtle. This is the kid I mentioned the other day, short cut blonde hair, 10yo very fun loving. I met him in the arcades, he joined me when I sank a few dimes into the machine. I then talked to him while we watched & assisted another kid whilst he played the machines & won a few jackpots. We guided him to try for the features more than the fruits & to not go for the biggest prize everytime, as he found out the machine screws you if you're too greedy. When this kid left, it was just me & Squirtle. We spent quite a long time talking. He only lives down the road a few kilometres away. His Dad brings him down & was watching the horses on TV, whilst his older sister was somewhere else. He says his mum doesn't come down, so it wasn't the kid I thought of from last summer (but the same one from Xmas). You know how kids blurt out too much personal info, well so did he, reeling off phone numbers, in a flash. He mentioned a cell number, but he didn't carry one on him. Me: "Where's your cellphone?" Sq: "I sold it." Me: "So what good is it remembering your old number?" Sq: "I dunno, guess how much it cost." Me: "30 dollars?" Sq: "no, 200 dollars?" Also during out chat, I won a few dollars myself whilst he was with me, I was up in winnings. We got on really great. I got him a coffee & later a choc bar, to show my appreciation of his company & time. He even ran to the change machine for me to get some quarters for the game. Later in the evening when I was at work he popped in & out to get change to practice, what some other kids were doing. Some quick minded 14yo's had found out that a machine that took quarters, was taking dimes instead & paying out the same amount. Over the course of two days, these kids had cleaned both machines out of winnings & the attendants didn't seem bothered at all. Made good friends with those guys as well. It just goes to show with Squirtel (who goes home this morning), that some friendships can be FREE OF CHARGE & come with NO STRINGS ATTACHED, like some I could mention. This kid has proved himself a true friend & worthy of becoming a future yf. Halo (PS Many thanks to Bro Paul for the prayers, they were answered.
