I know a family who lost a close and very loved relative to someone who was driving recklessly. They are a christian family and found it very hard to forgive the person, but they did. In court they were allowed to speak, and in their speech they told the person that they forgive him and that God forgives him and they asked the judge to be lenient. The judge was extremely moved, he looked at the defendant and told him (Im paraphrasing since I dont remember the exact words) 'you are very lucky that this is a christian family. In all my years as a judge I have never seen something like this. You need to thank God these people...'. The judge obeyed the family's request and gave the defendant the minimum sentence.
