I'll share as I go. For now, I'll say this: As the years have gone on, the children I once raised have been burning bridges with me one by one. It's too easy to do with ex-stepfathers. We get no visitation rights. No input. The whole thing becomes one-sided and unbalanced. The truth gets buried. The good guy gets hurt. The children don't ever have to see us again the day we leave their mother (or their mother leaves us), despite how many years we raised them, took care of them while they were sick, helped fight their battles, mentored them into being better people, etc., etc., etc. So, I'm writing a book... about this. Finally! Maybe it'll make a difference. At least make it so the children in these circumstances have a say to see their stepfather despite their mother's selfish anger. 7 years I was with them! And then it's all supposed to come to a sudden stop because their mother thinks it's time to try out a new man? And I'm left with nothing in return for those 7 years of love and sacrifice? In God, I do believe my sacrifice will come to something. And in God, I believe this novel will speak to many and help make a difference in the lives of all families, broken or not, and specifically with men involved with mentoring and caring for the children of these families.
