At High School I was attracted to boys a bit younger than me, but not sufficently to think it significant. Between school and university I spent some months in another country and had a very emotionally powerful relationship with a nine year so; it was so significant that a few years ago when I happened to see in the distance the village where he lived some 20 years later, it struck me really hard. I guess it was during that time with him that I realised there was an issue! In recent years I have tried to raise my age of attraction - to the extent that my 'YFs' are now in their early 20s, having been a part of my life since they were 14; whether that is a viable strategy for others, and how far the lower end of my AoA is still young is unclear - I have no significant contact with anyone under the age of 20.... |
