Dear FOD, I think you are right on in your beliefs about prayer. There is a bible verse that says something about," They don't even know what to pray for....etc" but I can't find it. I believe it refers to the Holy Spirit giving us the words we need or something like that. Maybe you know the verse. Anyway, from what I have found to be true about prayer, God only gives the good things He knows we will need in life, no matter what. I have found this to be true through personal experience. I have also found that God answers prayer in His own good time, so it's good to keep the faith and not loose heart if it seems that God is not answering your prayers....He will answer your prayers, but in His own time and in His own way! I too have heard those "prosperity preachers" and to tell you the truth, they make me sick, and angry. They are very missleading and it's too bad that so many Christians fall for thier teaching. I cannot find anything in the Bible that says that God is going to make us rich and comfortable here on this earth in this life. The Bible DOES say that He will supply all of our NEEDS but I can't find anything in there that promises us a big, nice house with a two-car garage and a swimming pool in the back yard. "Needs" are one thing but "wants" and especially greedy wants are quite another. I really don't believe we are put here on this earth to gather up for ourselves as much money and stuff as we possably can. But yet there are some fairly well known (or at least well loved) preachers who teach this very thing. It's so unfortunate. Anyway, thank you so much for your prayers my good friend. I know that God is a very good Father and will always supply my needs, as well as your's too. FOD, I feel confident that He will give you an answer to your prayers as well.
