In a world where a teacher who leans over a student to correct his work can be accused of sexual assault (he might have been looking down her blouse, he was told), I think you're lucky to have received only one complaint. Every generation has some topic which, while a legitimate source of concern, is treated in a hysterical manner. If you were living in the Victorian Age and tried to get your kids interested in classical art, similar outcries would follow. Horrible though it must be to find yourself in a police station, it sounds as though things are going well - as you say, the kids like it and the parents like it, so don't let a single complaint get you down. I understand that a high school last year cancelled a field trip to Schindler's List because one parent had complained about a sex scene in the movie. That's what happens when one waits for unanimity - the best projects never take place. Heather |
