Thumb, your boy sounds like a special friend. My E keeps telling me he's writing to me, but I'm still waiting for the letter, hehe. I'm sure it will come soon :) What Ben said about teenagers drawing away seems quite commonly true, so don't be dismayed my it. Be a constant for him, if it happens, and you will find a lifelong friend as you hope. One of my older YFs went through a period of withdrawal at about 14 or 15, nothing personal against me, I suppose he just needed to find his own independent feet. But now he's 21 and a close friend I can depend on. Ben the following is for you. "Footprints", it's quite famous, maybe you already know it. FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints. Other times there were one set of footprints. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord, "You promised me, Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of prints in the sand. Why, When I have needed you most, you have not been there for me?"
