I can understand Pat's dilemma. I do not believe that Pat is condemned or damned eternally because of his affections towards boys. I am an evangelical Christian, and I too have had an affection for boys for decades. I struggle with these affections, yet I find nothing in scripture that condemns me for having them. Now if I were to act on them in a destructive way, possessive, controlling, sexually explicit way, then I think that God would have something negative to say about that. The tension--a divine tension--resides in affirming a unique (reserved for a very small minority in the human race)affection that can be used by God for benefitting young males. I do not believe that I can morally express myself sexually towards boys, yet I recognize that I can express myself, uphold and bless boys through patience, teaching, playing, listening, advocating and affirming boys in a wide range through a great number of ways. These healthy, mature, Godly ways give me ample opportunities to love boys:: Agape, Philio, Storge..but not Eros.

I believe Christian boylove takes discipline. And it has always been difficult for me. But since I haven't stayed away from boys, but have dived headlong into being involved in their lives, I have kept the sexual tension under control. Its somewhat self-control, somewhat God-control. It is always a tension, and I trust God's grace to be sufficient for me forever.
