Truefriend - I am not a minister, so maybe I shouldn't be responding, but here is my feedback anyway. When it comes to something which is a choice, such as joining a church or a sportsteam, people are left to that wonderful free will that God created us with. As we all well know, the exercising of that free will is not always done with God's ideas in mind. The choices are so open, so available and so personal, that we have to accept the fact that not every church, not every team, not every decision, is for every person. Some people may have left your parish for the wrong reason. Some may be STAYING for the wrong reasons. Others may not be considering the decision and that might be wrong too. The points are that not every church (and not every minister) is the right one for every person and that not every person makes decisions for the right reason. People may JOIN your church because of you. You just haven't seen this yet because it is not the first thing that will happen. The first thing is that those in the parish who don't belong will leave when they realize it is time for them to. Ahead though, will come a time when the word will spread and others will join. That will be more gradual and you'll have to work harder to recognize it. I hope this makes sense. Look how many people decided not to follow Jesus....it doesn't mean that he was any less worthy of being followed :) You are not alone. Ben |
