oops Ben, I had forgotten the bit about the bread being unleavened. Christians do know about that, but I guess we tend to skip over it a lot of the time *embarrassed grin*. I'm pretty sure the bread Jesus used would have been unleavened. Thanks for pointing that bit out.

Interesting to hear that wine is used in the Jewish ceremony. I wasn't sure about that. I imagine that Jesus got up to that part of the ceremony when he had his last Passover with the disciples, and gave the use of the wine a new meaning.

I've heard celebrating the Jewish Passover can be heaps of fun. I once visited a Christian church, where they gathered together at the pastor's house to go through the Jewish ceremony together, they had the bitter herbs and stuff. That was interesting, but it would be fun to share in the "real" thing. I guess you'd have to be in the home of Jews who believe in Jesus to get the "real" thing? ;) I know the youngest member of the family has to get up and ask these ceremonial questions about why and how God rescued Israel from Egypt. We could get together with our YFs, and have the youngest YF ask the questions... :)

There was one point the church mentioned when we went through the Jewish ceremony, and it was that which I was hoping you might be able to shed light on. I don't remember the details well, but I remember there was something like three dough men placed in the centre of the table (I guess it could have been dough without yeast), and one of the three was to be broken during the ceremony. The interpretation (from the Christian point of view) was that these three represented God in Trinity, and the broken one of course would be Jesus.
This sounds like it's coming out all confused, that's why I was wanted to know more about the "real" Jewish ceremony, to see if there was some symbolism there all along that refers to Jesus, even though it may have been unrecognised the whole time.

So was there anything there along those lines? Anything like the dough men with one being broken? Hmm, I should probably go back and check with my sources, so I can at least be clear about what I was told, even if it was wrong!

Love,

F.O.D.
