thanks for your input john guard.
i appreciate the trouble you have gone to. i have no resources to look up such detailed information, and i thank you for sharing this info.

about the centurion, i agree with some of what you said. however, if we consider the centurion as somewhat of an abnormal person, i feel it is distinctly within the realm of reasonable possibility that he *is* in a pederastic relationshp with the boy. as you say, it is difficult to say either way. however, i choose to believe that he is. considering him as an unusually caring person, a Roman that the Jews liked, i think it possible. we might be forced to agree to disagree...cause there is little (to my knowledge) evidence either way. but thanks for the background...

as far as david and jonathan goes:
again, there is a lack of definitive evidence. i think this is so we are *forced* to choose our beliefs, according to our hearts. my gut feeling is that their relationship went beyond the normal mentoring relationship. can't quite say why, but i do. i am very undecided as to whether or not they were sexually involved.

ezekiel:
the verses lack a statement of age on the child's part (conspicuously, again). it is then up to us to decide for ourselves. to me, that verse is explicitly sexual.

as far as the bibles stance on homosexuality, that has beeen widely debated here lately, so i will not take up space. but, if by your logic, david and jonathan might have been bisexual, i cannot see how the bible condemns homosexuality. my opinion has always been that the bible worries more about how we relate to people sexually, and how we keep that in focus with our Father, than about what exactly we do. many places the Word says to not have this kind of sexual relations, etc etc. i know of no places it says not to do that with a man. rather, it says to "not lie with him as with a woman." i stand by my earlier thoughts on the meaning of that.

regard less, i agree with you that nothing should come between us and the father, as too often we allow things to do. i have enjoyed reading your post and attempting to respond. thanks again for the background info.

keep His word in your heart...
scott
