Ben, "Counting the Cost" hmm, haven't heard that phrase in the context of baptism. I consider baptism to be an act of obedience, scripture tells us to be baptized and tells those who evangelize to "go out and spread the gospel and baptize in His name" (mucho paraphraseo). We are commanded to, therefore as an act of obedience to Jesus Christ, we are expected to be baptized. Very similar to the "Lord's Supper", this is another sacrament/ritual which is an act of obedience. However, based on my own studies, I see no coorelation between "salvation" and "baptism". After all, "Salvation" is a "free" gift, in conjuncton with a real committment to Christ, there are no strings attached. Anyway, thats the way I see it. Best to you all, Lost- |
