It is not necessary to post personal details. When I talk about emotional attachment I am not suggesting you give lots of real life details. What I am hinting at, I think, is an emotional distance that you keep yourself from the boards. I would assume this is to prevent you from being drawn into the emotional ups and downs of many posters. In fact, I would classify myself as having much of this emotional distance as well. I do know posters (and I can think of Tangie right off the top of my head) who invest a great deal of emotional energy online. This has both pros and cons, but this makes the online presence more authentic, in my view. It is important to think about real life consequences to your internet adventures. But it is also useful to examine exactly what you hope to achieve by your "online evangelism". After all, you do spend many, many hours at the computer from all the posts on several BL boards.
