Net: 10+ years. BBSs before then. By the way, "in real life" I rarely let it "all hang out" unless I'm tired. Even among friends I'm usually one of the last to "chill out" unless someone or something forces the issue ("party icebreaker" games tend to work, to a degree). And unlike Heather (whose real-world bio is known from day 1), I can't afford the security risk to let "it all hang out" (I assume by "all" you mean not just the where-i-live/what-i-do/who-i-work-for but also my day-to-day life & how I feel about that life & the things I do for fun & how that makes me feel, etc. etc. You'll be seeing some of the latter, but not a whole lot.). You seem to be convinced I am a researcher. If everyone on BC is a researcher, then (by the broad definition) I must be too (I guess in some sense we are all looking for something, and if that makes us researchers...). Otherwise, no, I am not a researcher (2 months ago I would not have said this). Your closing 3 paragraphs are well said (particularly on dignity). -d (david_tx on IRC) |
