1 Cor 6:9-12 9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 12 "Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything. [NIV] JM wrote: >If you get saved, God will deliver you from your sin, but if you hold onto it you will not get saved. Yes and no: He will deliver you from hell, that is the definition of salvation. He will give you strength to avoid temptation, but in my case I do not always rely on that strength and I sometimes (make that frequently) sin, and suffer the earthy (but thankfully, not the eternal) consequences of that sin. Namely, for a few minutes or a few hours, I am estranged from God. That doesn't mean we don't love each other, it just means there is something (sin) keeping us from being able to look each other in the eye so to speak. -d (david_tx on IRC, sinner in the hands of a forgiving God) |
