hey tks, thanks for asking. the apostle paul in I Chor.6:18 tells us "flee fornication.every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body". also in the same chapter we are told that fornicators, adulterers, and homosexuals and sodomites will not enter into the kingdom of God.in chapter 7 paul writes that to avoid fornication people should marry and that they should not abstain from sex except for brief periods of time and then only by mutual consent. he also advices single people to remain single (partly because of the persecution that was on the church at that time)but that if they could not refrain from sex that they should marry because it would be better to marry than to burn in hell. also, if you take a look at all the OT laws forbidding sex the only type of sexual relationship that wasn't forbidden is in the context of marriage. also in Gen. 2:24" therefore will a man leave his father and mother and cleve to his wife and the two shall become one flesh". paul links this statement to sex in IChor. chapter 6 i guess a definition of fornication and adultery would be appropriate.websters defines fornication as sexual intercourse between unmarried persons and adultery as voluntary sexual intercourse of two persons, either or both of whom are married but not to each other. hope this helps the borg |
